Asterix at the Olympic Games - a 12th comic book album, a story satirizing performance enhancing drug usage, existing in sports. Great comedy, mixed with conspiracy actions and romantic intrigues. The cast is quite unique, famous actors… Gérard Depardieu (Obélix) and Alain Delon (Julius Caesar).
Asterix and Obelix – two good friends, spending time together, hunting… run across Gluteus Maximus - a sports champion of the local Roman garrisons, who wants to take part in the Olympic Games. They manage to beat the Roman athlete, stopping every one of his attempts - all of this with the help of some magic potion. Later, the Gauls decide to enter as well in the Games, thinking that they are legally Romans (only the free-born Greek people were allowed to play in the ancient Olympic Games, but under pressure the exception was created for their Romans). So, eventually the magic potion gets banned, due to a protest. The movie gets more exciting… the Gauls have to win the Olympic Games on their own strength without the help of the magic potion, while Brutus, the Romans representative is cheating in every competition.
