This time, Will Farmer inadvertently engages Ripley, an overly sensitive supercomputer that was designed to detect and handle terrorist attacks.
Mark David Chapman (Jonas Ball), the man who murdered John Lennon, is a self-obsessed young man who has an emotionally distant relationship with his parents and a failing marriage to Gloria (Mie Omori). Unable to hold down a job, Chapman spends a lot of time at the public library, where he re-reads J.D. Salinger’s The Catcher In The Rye and browses though a photo book on John Lennon, and the two begin to fuse in his imagination, as he links Holden Caulfield’s grousing about “phonies” with the fame and wealth of one-time activist Lennon. Chapman hops a flight to New York City and visits the sights Caulfield talked about in the novel when not busy standing vigil outside the Dakota, the luxury apartment building Lennon calls home, with a gun in his possession. The first time Chapman crosses paths with Lennon as he’s leaving the Dakota, he asks the former Beatle to sign a copy of Double Fantasy, Lennon’s new album.
Oliver Stone’s over the top satire on America’s worshipful fascination with tabloid criminals stars Woody Harrelson as Mickey Knox and Juliette Lewis as girlfriend wife Mallory Wilson. Commencing with the dual murder of Mallory’s sexually abusive father (Rodney Dangerfield) and grossly negligent mother (Edie McClurg), the anomic couple take off on a three week killing spree across the country, telling everyone who they are so that they get the credit for their crimes. The media are immediately enthralled with the couple, especially Wayne Gale (Robert Downey Jr.), the bloodthirsty host of a tabloid TV show who follows their every move. By the time they’re finally arrested, they’ve become such huge media stars that the cops treat them more like celebrities than criminals. Even the maniacal limelight-hogging warden of the Batongaville State Prison, Dwight McClusky (Tommy Lee Jones), is in awe. Stone pulls out all the stops in the prison riot, as the unwitting Gale becomes an unwilling participant in his own broadcast of the event. Again the director switches from film to video, from color to black and white, from sitcom parody to newsreel parody, and from one film stock to another, hoping to jar the audience out of its complacency with visual hyperbole.

In Washington D.C., presidential hopeful Senator Jasper Irving (Tom Cruise) is about to give a bombshell story to a probing TV journalist (Meryl Streep) that may affect Arian and Ernest’s fates. The three stories are woven tightly together, revealing how each of these Americans has a profound impact on each other and the world.
In the near future, a chemical virus is accidentally released from a secret government installation and infects Rhino’s, a nearby underground strip club. When one of the performers, Kat (Jenna Jameson), turns into a flesh-eating member of the living dead, all the other girls are jealous when Kat becomes the most popular dancer. Despite mounting tension and the disappearance of the club’s patrons owner Ian Essko (Robert Englund) refuses to shut down even as his girls succumb to peer pressure to turn into zombies themselves.
A family facing myriad disasters is forced to confront one on the form of their own son in this harrowing psychological drama from British filmmaker Simon Rumley. Donald Brocklebank (Roger Lloyd Pack) is a former British nobleman who has lost his peerage, and with it his fortune. The Brocklebank estate has fallen into disrepair, Donald’s wife Nancy (Kate Fahy) is suffering from an advanced case of cancer that makes nearly any effort an agony, and their son James (Leo Bill) is a manic depressive with violent tendencies and the mind of a child. Only an operation that Donald cannot afford will save Nancy’s life, so he has made plans to sell the estate in order to pay for the surgery and her subsequent care. However, Donald has to travel out of town for several days in order to complete the details of the sale. Donald has arranged for Mary (Sarah Ball), a nurse who has worked for the family before, to care for his wife while he’s away, but Donald is forced to leave before Mary arrives. Determined to show his father that he’s a responsible adult, James announces he’ll be “looking after Mummy,” locks Mary out of the house, disconnects the telephone, and stages a minor siege as Mary is determined to save Nancy’s life. Nancy slowly slips into a panic as her brutal and incompetent son nearly claims her life, and matters become uglier when Mary contacts the police about the situation at the Brocklebank mansion. The Living and the Dead won the Jury Award in five categories (including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor) at the 2006 Austin Fantastic Fest.
Treading territory similar to JU-ON: THE GRUDGE (2003), RINGU (1998), and ONE MISSED CALL (2003), all Asian horror films remade for American audiences, SHUTTER is the first English-language film for director Masayuki Ochiai, whose career has been primarily within the horror genre. The result is another potent ghost story able to conjure up feelings of dread through a single longhaired, poker-faced female apparition. Newlywed New Yorkers Ben (Joshua Jackson, THE SKULLS) and Jane Shaw (Rachael Taylor, TRANSFORMERS) have traveled to Tokyo, where photographer Ben is investigating a potentially lucrative job opportunity. While driving on a dark road at night, the couple runs over a mysterious woman who seems to appear out of nowhere and can’t be found after the accident. Over the next few days, Jane goes sightseeing while Ben works, only to see strange apparitions that also appear on the photos she takes. After Ben’s photos show the same ghostly forms, he confesses that he knows something about the woman they ran over, but it may be too late to stop her trail of terror. Another Hollywood remake of an Asian horror film, SHUTTER has a tricky lineage: the 2004 original was made in Thailand, while this version is U.S. financed, but shot mostly in Japan. By setting the film in Japan, director Ochiai retains an element of exoticism for American audiences, which also allows Ben and Jane to be out of their element, Ã la DON’T LOOK NOW. As the menacing spirit, Megumi, Megumi Okina is adept at conjuring fear with a simple glare in a minimal but effective performance. SHUTTER doesn’t stretch the boundaries of horror cinema, but it provides a handful of decent shocks and a couple of crowd-pleasing gross-outs, all within the limits of a non-restrictive PG-13 rating.
Decorated Iraq war hero Sgt. Brandon King makes a celebrated return to his small Texas hometown following his tour of duty. Brandon tries to resume the life he left behind with the help and support of his family and his best friend, Steve Shriver , who served with him in Iraq. Alongside their war-time buddies, Brandon and Steve try to make peace with civilian life. Then, against Brandon’s will, the Army orders him back to duty in Iraq. This upends Brandon’s entire world. The conflict into which he is thrown tests everything he believes in: the bond of family, the loyalty of friendship, the limits of love, and the value of honor.
